As a complementary massage treatment, remedial massage therapy incorporates several techniques that assist in identifying the sources of pain, healing and relieving pains, and improving the health of our body. Through hands-on manipulation of muscles and soft tissue a remedial massage therapy increases blood flow and adds oxygen and nutrients to the muscles while removing waste products, thereby reducing the effects of pain.

How do I know which type of treatment will benefit me the most?
The types of treatments listed on our website explain how each unique treatment benefits our body and overall wellbeing in their unique ways, but since our therapist has gone through all the required certification training, she actually incorporates all the techniques that best benefit the clients during the treatments. For an example, myofascial release techniques will be applied for clients who experience tight necks and shoulders, or those who experience constant headaches due to stress. Each treatment plan is made up after the communication between the client and the therapist based on the symptoms expressed by the client and visual observation and the manual palpation by the therapist. So, a client is only expected to communicate with the therapist how he or she feels, what issues they may experience with certain parts of their body, and what activities they have been engaged in terms of their self-care perspectives.
Can I ask the therapist to massage / concentrate on one area during the treatment?
The therapist always communicates with our clients pre-treatment time to understand the muscle issues, such as symptoms, possible causes of the issues, how long has the client been having the issues, etc. The therapist will then explain how and why she will provide the treatment, and have the client's consent before the treatment starts. Specific area can be concentrated during a treatment, but the major cause of the issue needs to be addressed . For an example, a client may suffer from a lower back pain, and the cause of the lower back pain can be the tight erector spinae, unbalanced hip, or the tight hamstrings or sciatic nerve being pressed. After the pre-treatment communication, especially with the therapist's assessment and palpation a treatment plan will be worked out and agreed on.
